In the interview I watched yesterday with @mollybarkergotrfounder , she kept placing her hand over her heart and referring to “this.” I knew exactly what she meant. That’s where it lives in me, too, the place that expands when something is right for me and tightens when it isn’t. She didn’t just ask for “art” she handed me pieces of their lives: song lyrics with special meanings, hobbies that shape their days, little threads of who they are. Art is just love made visible. And I love and miss this family. Not the prepaid fines story still sitting with me. They know who they are. Legend. One of my favorite things I got to do last week at the Bet on Yourself Summit was ask attendees how they bet on themselves, and in return, I got to hear inspiring, honest, and powerful stories about risk, growth, and believing in who they are and who they’re becoming. The results are now hanging in my office so I can remind myself of the risks they’ve taken. The first bet is the hardest. I’ve had a lot of new followers lately 🥰, and many of you may not know that in my real life, I’m a 5th grade math and science teacher. One of my favorite things to do is teach sketchnoting, it’s a fantastic focus and sense-making tool that I hope stays with them.
